13 Genius Ways How to Makeover Country Backyard Landscaping Ideas

It is the middle of winter, you are looking out the window and dreaming about the day when you can finally enjoy your wonderful country backyard.

After all, it took a lot of time, money and effort to create that tranquil oasis – “the perfect country backyard” – complete with breathtaking vistas of green grass, fresh flowers in every nook and cranny and a serene pond with a waterfall. But even if all this expense wasn’t an issue because your wife had her heart set on having a serene pond with a waterfall; regardless what motivated you to spend your hard-earned money on this project in the first place – it’s now planting time.

So you are eagerly looking forward to the day when you can start planting your many new plants, trees, flowers and shrubs in your beautiful backyard – only to be told that that particular year of weather has been exceptionally dry; or you had too much water last year, which washed away all the topsoil and now there is very little in which to plant.

But – after an exhausting day of rain, hard work and frustration…you look out your window at the setting sun and see a glorious full moon rising in the clear sky – and say “maybe this will be good enough”. So you don’t dwell on it any more.

The following year has come and gone – the weather has cooperated and you are ready to get down to business and start planting. So after you’ve ordered your topsoil and your beautiful flowers, trees, shrubs and plants, you start getting ready to get started on what is hopefully going to be a glorious sunny weekend with family & friends.

If you are like me, then this planting time is a very special time in my life. I am extremely excited because it’s my chance to finally have the backyard I have always dreamed of; even if it takes all day Saturday & Sunday, I am going to have fun with family & friends while creating a masterpiece garden…like that gardening shows on TV.

So, while I am waiting for the UPS truck to arrive and deliver my beautiful topsoil and flowers to my front door – I decide to go out in the backyard with a cup of coffee in one hand and a tape measure in the other hand.

After sitting on the steps, drinking my coffee and taking many measurements – then moving over to another spot and doing it all again…I notice it is almost time for lunch. So I go back into the house; grab a bite of lunch while scrutinizing my measurements one more time before calling UPS to schedule delivery.

Wondering – “How the heck am I ever going to get this yard planted?”

After setting my phone down on top of the kitchen table, there it is!…a knock at the door! I look out onto the porch and see two huge UPS trucks that are pulling up. Wow, is all I can say.

One truck pulls up right by my front door while the other truck parks right in front of my back door. There they both sit – both filled with my wonderful Topsoil and beautiful flowers.

Q: How to Make Country Backyard Landscaping?

A: If you want to make your country backyard look like a paradise with stunning views and the perfect setting for your new home, whether it be a cottage, office, center, or special area…all of this can be achieved by in-depth knowledge of garden design principles and an innovative mindset.

Of course, I don’t know how any of that is applied to a small yard – “no larger than 12 by 12 feet”, but then again I’m not going to use anything bigger than that. When you are planning a yard to fit into a “small” space; the objective is to do it right.

Detailed Instructions:

  • Step 1: To make your yard look like a paradise, you need to make sure that it is strategically positioned to provide you with stunning views out of every window – even if they are only 4 feet square.
  • Step 2: Plan your yard around a central location where you can place a water feature or beautiful stone wall/fountain. These are all great options for creating an outdoor room.
  • Step 3: Soil Preparation: Thoroughly mix together between about 10-15 cubic feet of topsoil and about 5 cubic feet of compost. Measure out this mixture into three different areas; one for the lawn, one for the flower bed and one for trees & shrubs.
  • Step 4: Begin by laying out a deep layer of topsoil in the center of the backyard and lightly sprinkle water over the surface. Now mark out your flower bed – about 4 to 6 inches deep and begin laying down a mixture of compost and topsoil in every corner.
  • Step 5: Finally, begin planting your new flowers/shrubs; being sure to water them after they have taken root.
  • Step 6: Once you have planted all of your flowers/shrubs; then it is time to get started on the grassy lawn area. Start by laying out a large tarp underneath your lawnmower so that you can collect all excess grass clippings that will be ejected during mowing…
  • Step 7: Then mow the lush grassy lawn and then collect the clippings using the tarp you laid out in Step #6. Now you can add these clippings to your compost pile as well, or use them to fertilize your new topsoil mix.
  • Step 8: After seeding your grassy lawn area, it is time to commence watering. First, water your flower beds with a slow steady stream of water; being sure not to over-water them. Then come back the next day and water again; just enough so that the soil is evenly moistened and not soaking wet.
  • Step 9: Continue watering your yard for about a week and then stop. By this time you should be able to see the new grass growing, and if not – no problem – just keep watering for a few more days.
  • Step 10: After about two weeks, you should be able to mow your lawn as it is completely established. When you are done, now is the time to water your flowers/shrubs again with a slow steady stream of water.
  • Step 11: If you want to add additional flowers/shrubs, it is best to wait until after they have flowered so that there will be plenty of room left in their root area for the additional growth of roots so that they can become established in the ground.
  • Step 12: Now you can lay down a large tarp underneath your lawnmower so that you can collect the clippings from the lawn. Once you have collected enough waste, it is time to add it back into your compost pile or to your flower bed; being sure not to run or walk on top of the newly laid compost.
  • Step 13: After two weeks, it is time to add a layer of topsoil over the entire yard. Flatten out this layer slightly and then begin filling in any holes with additional topsoil – and no…

Q: How Many Yard Sprinklers Do I Need?

A: It’s important to determine how much water you need from your sprinklers so that you don’t wastewater. Usually, you don’t have to worry about sprinkler heads clogging with dirt – that’s because the holes in the sprinklers are small enough so that all of the water goes through them. However, some sprinklers have larger holes which means that more of the water could get caught. That would mean wasted water and wasted money. It is best to calculate how much water you need for your yard by first figuring out how many square feet of the yard is covered by each head of grass that you plan on keeping watered with a sprinkler – or do it this way…

Q: How Much Water Do I Need For My Sprinkler?

A: Your sprinkler system should be backed up by a well (or regular city water) to make sure that there is enough pressure to keep the system flowing properly. If you have low pressure in your area, then it may be time to check on how many sprinklers you have hooked up and if they will fix the problem – or if it’s time to upgrade. The amount of water that your sprinklers need can be measured in gallons per minute (gpm). The easiest way to determine how much water your yard needs in gallons per minute is by checking the owner’s manual for your lawn sprinklers.

Q: What is the Difference Between A Lawn Sprinkler And A Pruning Sprinkler?

A: While they look similar, they are actually different and they are used in different situations. In particular, a lawn sprinkler is used to water grass and a pruning sprinkler is better suited for trees. The best way to determine whether your sprinklers need to be changed out or not is by checking their owner’s manual.

Q: How Do You Install An Automatic Watering System?

A: You should check your owner’s manual for the specific steps involved in wiring your own automatic watering system. However, you should start by making sure that you have placed water sensors and timers around the yard. These are the two main devices that are needed for an automatic watering system to operate properly. The timer will allow you to set specific times for your sprinklers to come on and off so that you aren’t wasting water.

Q: How Do I Get Rid Of Bugs In My Sprinkler System?

A: It’s not uncommon in the summertime to see little bugs buzzing around your yard – especially if there is a sprinkler system in place. The best way to get rid of these bugs is by simply shutting the system off, then turning it back on again after all of the bugs have dried out.

Q: Where Is My Water Meter Located?

A: Most of the time, the water meter is located on outside of your house at the lowest point of your property. However, if your house is located in a newer suburban community or subdivision, you may be wondering where it is located and what shape it should be in. In most cases, it should be rectangular – although this can vary depending on the design of your home.

Q: Can I Use My Water Meter To Check The Water In My Sprinkler System?

A: It is possible to check the water in your sprinkler system by using your water meter. However, be aware that this will only tell you how much water is being used only during the time that you are measuring it – not over a period of time. In some cases, it can also show you how much moisture/rain is collected on the grass.

Q: Is It Alright If I Hook Up My Sprinklers To My Well Water?

A: In most cases, you should not be hooking up lawn sprinklers to your well water because the pressure from the well is not always enough to meet the demands that your sprinkler system will put on it. If you do decide to go this route, then you should only turn on one sprinkler head at a time so that there is no risk of overloading your entire system.

Q: Why Is My Yard Sprinkler So Wet?

A: In most cases, your sprinkler system needs to be balanced by removing one of the heads of grass or adding more water to compensate for the extra water that your lawn is losing through evaporation. You can do this manually by turning off one sprinkler head and then turning on a different one nearby so that the pressure is equalized. Or, you can use an automatic watering system that will take care of this for you.

Q: What Is The Difference Between A Sprinkler And A Rain Machine?

A: Sprinklers are a type of automated watering system which can be used to control the amount of water used for your yard (or other areas).

Q; When Is The Best Time To Water My Lawn?

A: The best time to water your lawn depends on a number of factors and you should check your owner’s manual for the specifics. However, you should keep in mind that watering a lawn in the cooler times of the day will cause it to feel cooler and shade – which is nice during the hot summer months. Also, watering in the morning will help to retain the moisture in your grass because it won’t bake in the hot afternoon sun.

Q: Who Should I Call When My Sprinkler Is Leaking?

A: There are a few different people that you can call when your sprinkler system is leaking. You may be able to fix the leak yourself by simply turning off the water supply and then tightening the faulty sprinkler head or another component. However, if you can’t do it yourself, then you should call a local company to come out and fix it for you. This way, they will be able to identify where exactly the problem is coming from.
